Juanda Marshall, a National Board Certified Teacher, fell in love with singing at an early age. She earned a Bachelor of Music with a major in Voice and Music Education. She also holds a Master's of Arts degree in Elementary Education.
Ms. Marshall began her career teaching middle school and elementary school vocal music. She eventually worked in the entertainment industry as a singer, actress, vocal coach and music director. Juanda was a member of several vocal groups including the world renowned Albert McNeil Jubilee Singers of Los Angeles and the Grammy nominated Los Angeles Jazz Choir.
During the time Ms. Marshall has worked as a music teacher, she has served as a peer coach, and has written curriculum for her district and has helped to publish online integrated lessons.
Her passion for music education has led her to develop and present many music workshops for teachers, administrators, parents and students. Juanda has served as a clinician for several organizations: The Kodály Association of Southern California (KASC), The Organization of Kodály Educators (OAKE), The Los Angeles Philharmonic, Headliner for the Michigan Music Education Conference.
Juanda has received recognition from the Los Angeles City Elementary Schools Music Association which awarded her with an Honorary Life Membership. Additionally, The California Music Educators Association Executive Board selected Juanda as the 2023 recipient of the EARNEST R. YEE ILLUMINATING CULTURE AWARD. This award seeks to recognize professionals and programs that integrate the personal and historical cultural perspectives of their students and community through music; it further seeks to recognize programs that use methods that connect student talent while honoring culture and ethnic heritage.
Juanda’s mission is to “Help others know the joy of making music and to know how music can be a powerful and exciting part of their lives.” She has lived out this mission, teaching music to students aged 2 through adult for over 30 years. Juanda's passion for music education has led her to many wonderful adventures and she is looking forward to many more.
